President’s Day
Was it George Washington that chopped down the cherry tree? If it wasn’t he certainly got blamed for it. This President’s Day we remember the birthdays of two of our most influential presidents. Why not celebrate by following in George Washington’s footsteps or arm swings. Chop down that tree in your yard that has been bugging you for the past few years.
Area has the chainsaws, log splitters, stump grinders and three chippers you need to get the job done like a professional. We even have the know-how to give you tips and tricks on how to operate the equipment. Stop in to see our friendly staff and let us help you with your next project.
Valentines Day!
Valentines day is here! So what did you get your valentine on this romantic occasion? Flowers, chocolate or maybe a nice
dinner? Sometimes the old standards can get a little predictable. May I make a couple of suggestions? How about a movie night? Rent a projector and screen to watch a movie and stay in for the night.
Rent a hardwood floor nailer and install a new floor to dance on. If you already have hardwood floors, get a sander to refinish them. Nothing says “I love you” like a new floor.
Of course they are calling for snow and instead of taking forever to shovel the driveway, buy an Ariens sno-thrower to get the job done fast so you can continue to cuddle in the couch.
Either way, think of Area Rental and Sales this Valentines Day!
Today is National Popcorn Day!
National Popcorn Day National Popcorn Day is celebrated at the end of January, although its exact date is a matter of debate. Various sources report it as January 19; others claim it takes place on whatever day the Super Bowl falls on. The Popcorn Board is often asked about the origins of this day; unfortunately, we do not know how or when this celebration began. Some other individual or organization (with obvious good taste) began this tradition.
The connection to the Super Bowl seems natural enough. It’s a highly regarded annual sporting competition pitting the top two national football teams against each other. Millions of viewers from around the globe hunker down with bowls of their favorite snack—popcorn—in heated anticipation of who will win the battle.
If you know of the origins of National Popcorn Day, please email us at: edu@popcorn.org.

Snow is Coming!
Snow is coming! Haven’t we heard this before? We are currently in a winter season that ranks in the top 3 for time passing before the first measurable snow fall. We keep getting promised that this season will be worse than last year, not so far.
Guess what? They are calling for our first measurable snowfall tonight, 3-6″ to be exact. Are you ready? If not, we have the solution. Stop in and look at our rapidly diminishing inventory of Ariens Sno-Throwers. All of our sno-throwers are on sale and while supplies last. The 24″ – 30″ models are the most popular and we only have a few left for this season.
If you find your current sno-thrower does not start after the snow flies tonight, we can have our factory trained mechanics repair your machine and get you moving snow with little effort. Call us today or stop in our showroom to see all of the 2012 models.
Area Rental helps Boy Scout Troop #57
This year Area Rental and Sales was given the opportunity to help out Troop #57 during their Christmas Tree sale in front of the old Borders Bookstore.
We were happy to donate the use of one of our tow behind boomlifts to help them build awareness of the sale they were having. With the wonderful location and use of the boomlift to elevate their sign above the traffic on Perryville Road, they were able to sell out of their trees for this fundraiser by Sunday the 18th! Great Job troop #57!
Raising money by holding signs is not the only thing these boomlifts are good for. They are great for hanging Christmas lights (as well as taking them down), trimming trees, painting houses, electrical work, tuckpointing your chimney and the list goes on and on. Stop by Area Rental and look at the different models today to see which will work best for your project.
Merry Christmas!
Santa Visits Area Rental & Sales
On Friday November 25th, Santa Clause made a stop at Area Rental and Sales. Santa was here from 8-12 and handed out candy canes to all who stopped by.
Santa knows that when it comes to putting up Christmas lights at your house, the safest way to make your house the envy of the neighborhood is to rent a tow behind boomlift from Area Rental and install those lights like a pro!
At Area Rental, tow behind boomlifts are available from 35′ to 55′ high. No house too high for these machines to reach. Reserve your boomlift today to make sure you are not locked out as these are very popular this time of year.
Lights aren’t the only thing you can use these lifts for. You can trim that unruly tree back and make your property safe again from dead limbs that are hanging.
Ariens sno-throwers are in stock and ready for the season. We are carrying a full line of the Ariens brand sno-throwers with two-stage models starting at $699.00. Don’t get left out in the cold this year as the weather forecasts are calling for a little more snow than we had last year. If you already have a sno-thrower, bring it in for a preseason tune up. We offer repairs on many different models.

Get Professional Results without the Professional!
In the do-it-yourself television shows, the pros make it look so easy and for them, it is. They have a lot of big tools to do the work; they know which tools are right for the job and how to use them. This information is not privileged and you don’t have to watch years of do-it-yourself shows to learn how.
Area Rental and Sales, 7190 N. Cherryvale Mall Dr. in Rockford, IL carries the same tools the pros use. We also have professionals on staff to explain how to use them, videos you can watch for further education, and you can practice before you take it home so you do the job right — without damage to yourself, your house or the tool.
To get your money’s worth out of renting a specialty tool, there are a few things you should know to rent right.
First, choose the best tool for the job. Tell the staff at Area Rental and Sales what you want to accomplish rather than what tool you want to rent. We may suggest a different tool that will do the job better and quicker. Trust us to rent you the tool you need and not more tool than you can handle.
Trust Area Rental and Sales to provide correct information. We believe in volunteering answers for the questions you don’t know enough to ask. “When we ask questions, we’re investigating,” said Jarrod Severing “At Area Rental and Sales, we ask questions in order to rent you the correct tool to get professional and efficient results.”
The information we can provide is invaluable — so not only do you rent well-maintained equipment, but you rent it with the security of knowing you’re doing it the best way possible. Once you decide on a tool, our staff teaches you how to use it safely. “The customer’s safety is important at Area Rental and Sales,” said Severing. “If a tool doesn’t feel right or doesn’t seem to be working correctly, call us.” Plus, we offer instruction on project preparation before taking the tool home.
Here are some examples of tool possibilities you can use and knowledge you’ll get at Area Rental and Sales:
Nail Gun
Use a nail gun to avoid the frustration and pain of hammering. Nail guns drive nails much faster and set the nails below the surface so the nails are ready for filling. A few tips for the first-time nail gun user: use manufacturer-specified nails to keep the gun from jamming. Keep the nails clean — don’t put nails into the gun that were just dropped into sawdust. Learn how to lubricate the head if you plan to use it for more than a day.
Power Auger
Another common do-it-yourself project is fence building. What can be a quick project becomes weeks-long if you have a lot of holes to dig. Rent a power auger to dig all the post holes for you, and your fence really can be a weekend job.
Two-person power augers are perfect for fence post holes. These machines drill holes for small-diameter uses and come with interchangeable 4-, 6- or 8-inch augers. Identify what kind of soil you’re digging in to determine how big a machine you need.
Other tools available for rental include a skid steer, walk-behind trencher, drywall hoist, cement mixer and tile saw to name a few. Some of which you may think “I couldn’t really operate one of those.” But in reality, you can. The Area Rental and Sales staff will make it easy for you to learn how to use the right tools for your project. With the right tools you get professional results without the professional.
Renting is the smart way to get things done. For more information on Area Rental and Sales, visit us online at www.arearentalandsales.com, or call us at 815-332-9933.
